PUBLIC WORKS - DIVISION of HIGHWAYS Bureau of Highways Maintenance Cost Center 303410
ORIGIN & PURPOSE: Governed by Code of Harford County, Chapter 16, Article IV, Section 25, the Bureau of Highways Maintenance is responsible for the maintenance and cleaning of roads, alleys, bridges, viaducts and underpasses, drains, and culverts. Inherent in this mission are the repair, maintenance, snow removal, and trafc control of approximately 1,064 miles of County roadways; 223 County bridges, which includes ten bridges shared with Baltimore County; over 25,000 signs; and 5,450 street lights. GOALS: To provide responsive and efective service to roadway, bridges and development stakeholders To maintain efciency and safety of County roadways To provide safe and well-maintained bridges
