ORIGIN & PURPOSE : Harford County has one of the largest veteran populations per capita in the State . They may require assistance in accessing various bene fi ts and services to support their transition to civilian life . Recognizing this need , a dedicated o ffi ce was created to provide support and assistance tailored to veterans ' speci fi c needs . It assists veterans by helping with access to bene fi ts . It serves as a central point of contact for veterans seeking information and assistance . It advocates on behalf of veterans to ensure their voices are heard and their interests are represented in local government policies and initiatives . It conducts outreach and educational activities to raise awareness about available resources and support services for veterans . Finally , it provides emergency assistance to veterans facing fi nancial hardship or other crises . Overall , the Veterans A ff airs o ffi ce within a county executive ' s o ffi ce plays a crucial role in supporting and advocating for the welfare of veterans in the local community , ensuring they receive the assistance and respect they deserve for their service to the nation .
