ORIGIN & PURPOSE : The Director of Planning and Zoning is responsible for the performance of all functions within the Department to ensure development activity within the County is consistent with related regulations ( e . g ., development , zoning ) and the County ' s Master Plan , thus preserving the general integrity and welfare of the community . The Director supervises , directs , and supports agency personnel and programs and is responsible for maintaining guidelines . The Director is mandated to revise and enforce the rules and regulations governing the physical development and growth of the County .
