ORIGIN & PURPOSE : The Southern County Taskforce originated from the recognition of speci fi c challenges and opportunities within the Route 40 corridor in Harford County . This included issues such as tra ffi ce congestion , limited recreational opportunities , aesthetic concerns , economic development opportunities , and public safety challenges . The purpose of the taskforce is to identify needs in the community and to facilitate community discussions through input from local leaders and concerns raised by residents and businesses along the Route 40 corridor .

Overall , the Southern County Taskforce serves as a collaborative platform for stakeholders to work together towards improving the overall quality of life along the Route 40 corridor in Harford County .
