HANDICAPPED CARE CENTERS

ORIGIN & PURPOSE : Handicapped Care Centers is a group of budgetary funds supporting mentally / physically disabled rehabilitation services . These services are provided by two private , non - pro fi t organizations - the Harford Center , Inc ., and The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region . These programs o ff er educational and vocational opportunities with the community for mentally / physically disabled residents . County contributions to these organizations are payable to the Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and must be , at a minimum , the amount paid by County government in Fiscal Year 1984 . These payments are mandated by the Development Disabilities Law , Section 7 - 705 , in the Health General Article of the Annotated Code of Maryland .
