COUNTY EXECUTIVE Veterans Affairs Cost Center 014000

ORIGIN & PURPOSE: Harford County has one of the largest veteran populations per capita in the State. They may require assistance in accessing various benefits and services to support their transition to civilian life. Recognizing this need, a dedicated office was created to provide support and assistance tailored to veterans' specific needs. It assists veterans by helping with access to benefits. It serves as a central point of contact for veterans seeking information and assistance. It advocates on behalf of veterans to ensure their voices are heard and their interests are represented in local government policies and initiatives. It conducts outreach and educational activities to raise awareness about available resources and support services for veterans. Finally, it provides emergency assistance to veterans facing financial hardship or other crises. Overall, the Veterans Affairs office within a county executive's office plays a crucial role in supporting and advocating for the welfare of veterans in the local community, ensuring they receive the assistance and respect they deserve for their service to the nation.
