ORIGIN & PURPOSE: The Office of Drug Control Policy (ODCP) is the County's lead Prevention Agency, working daily to create a drug free Harford County. Employees provide prevention outreach, support to treatment providers, monitoring and reporting activities, coordination of government agencies and non-profit organizations to address substance abuse, and support Harford County's Specialty Courts. The Office of Drug Control Policy provides information and assistance to Federal, State and local organizations, treatment providers and to individuals suffering from substance abuse and their families. Further, the Office of Drug Control Policy strives to continuously improve the network of available services to ensure efficient, effective, and proactive assistance for Harford County citizens. GOALS: To provide prevention outreach to more than 20,000 youth and 10,000 adults To support and operate one specialty court for 75 participants To apply for $500,000 State and Federal grants addressing substance issues To raise awareness about opiate use and overdose To identify and work to address gaps in the continuum of care for individuals suffering from behavior health disorders
