ORIGIN & PURPOSE: The Division of Environment and Sustainability is one of three major divisions within the Department of Public Works. The Division provides the following: Comprehensive project management services for the design and construction of County-owned capital projects for County departments and agencies. Environmental compliance and enforcement inspections for construction of stormwater management facilities and erosion & sediment control measures at all public and private construction sites county-wide. Implementation of the County's Municipal Storm Separate Sewer System (MS4) Permit and compliance with our National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit. Engineering plan review and approval services for stormwater management and sediment control, and postconstruction/maintenance inspections for stormwater management facilities. Implementation of the County's environmental, solid waste management and recycling programs, including the administration of the contracts with Maryland Environment Service (MES) and Baltimore County Government. MISSION STATEMENT: Provide comprehensive design, construction, inspection and management services associated with environmental and sustainable projects and programs in a cost effective manner and deliver high quality infrastructure and facilities to meet the needs of Harford County.

Coordinate all activities of the project team Meet functional needs of customer agencies Manage the permit and review process and enforce grading and SWM permit requirements Ensure SWM facilities function long-term Manage and coordinate MS4 permit compliance activities Maintenance and monitoring of County landfills and cost effective recycling programs Manage and oversee MES contract
