COUNTY COUNCIL Board of Appeals and Rezoning Cost Center 404000
ORIGIN & PURPOSE: Under the Harford County Code, the County Council constitutes the Board of Appeals. The Council appoints and employs Zoning Hearing Examiners who coordinate and conduct public hearings and render decisions on all zoning cases that are submitted as applications to the Board of Appeals. The Hearing Examiner's decision can be appealed to the County Council, sitting as the Board of Appeals for final argument.
GOALS: To comply with all charter and code requirements for the Board of Appeals activities To make decisions consistent with land use and zoning laws
To continue to schedule, hear, and issue final decisions in zoning cases within a timely manner To promote effective communications with the citizens to keep the public informed of zoning cases To utilize staff, technology and resources to effectively operate the Zoning Hearing Examiner's Office
