PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This project is to provide for authority to accept FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Association) funds through various grants that provide financial assistance to states and local governments. These programs are intended to reduce property damage/loss (payouts from the NFIP) and loss of life. At this time, these programs inlcude the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMPG), the Floor Mitigation Assistance Grant Program (FMA), and the Pre-Disaster Mitigation Grant Program (PDM). On a competitive bases, local governments apply to these grant programs of financial resources to offer to citizens that are suffering from repetitive flooding. The most common form of action taken under these grant programs in acquisition/demolition.
