The original property of the Halsey Family Farm was located at the corner of Old Pylesville Road and Street Roads when W. Paul Halsey and Hollis M. Halsey purchased an original 1700s stone house built by Andrew Wilson. Around 1941, their only son, W. Paul W. Halsey, Jr., and his wife Gloria Lloyd Halsey purchased the adjoining property, increasing the farm to 181 acres. The father and son raised dairy cattle and harvested wheat before transitioning to Polled Hereford beef cattle, ultimately retiring from cattle farming in the 1980s. The Halsey Farm is also iconic for the county's first public swimming pool, from 1936-1950, owning and operating school buses in the 60s and 70s, and a general store and ice cream shop, from 1934 to 2016. The farm is now occupied by 4 generations of the Halsey family and farmed by friends, Blue Valley Farms - the Martin Brothers. The farm has hosted multiple family weddings and events. Gloria Halsey, the family matriarch, still resides on the farm at the age of 99.
