JUDICIAL Jury Services Index #412000
ORIGIN/PURPOSE:
The Maryland Constitution as well as Maryland statutory and case law provide that parties to civil cases and defendants in criminal cases are entitled to a speedy trial by an impartial jury. The preservation of this constitutional right to jury trial is the responsibility of the Circuit Court for Harford County. The Court must ensure proper jury selection procedures and has established a jury selection plan which is approved by the Court of Appeals of Maryland. Individuals who serve on juries are given a token compensation for their services.
This budgetary account provides for costs associated with jury service, including fees and miscellaneous expenses. ALL FUND SUMMARY:
