FY 24 APPROVED OPERATING BUDGET

Performance Measure 2: Amount of revenue from sales/auctions/web ABOUT THIS MEASURE: Track the amount of revenue received from surplus vehicles and equipment

WHAT IS BEING DONE AND WHY IT IS IMPORTANT TO TRACK:

Fleet Management in an attempt to operate more like private sector, to increase revenue while driving down cost. By tracking this measurement, Fleet can establish a baseline each fiscal year and establishing it as a goal to increase the value of revenue each year. Tracking also helps Fleet to decide what venues produce better proceeds for surplus equipment and decisions on where our equipment should be auctioned or traded in on a future purchase.

FACTORS CONTRIBUTING TO CURRENT PERFORMANCE:

Fleet is in need of more funding in our capital projects area such as Highways, who is one of our largest users which has over $10,000,000 in aged equipment resulting in in crease downtime and customer disatification. The Highways fleet is aging and is costly and in need of replacement. Replacing units in a timely fashion helps us generate more revenue for the used vehicles and equipment. Replacement of units keeps our fleet running more efficently and generate stronger returns on our most valuable asset (fleet).

Performance Measure 3: Amount of revenue from negotiated trades ABOUT THIS MEASURE: Track trade values received from vehicles and equipment

WHAT IS BEING DONE AND WHY IT IS IMPORTANT TO TRACK:

Currently Fleet will check other auction sites, the internet and magizines such as auto/equipment trader to compare trade values to make sure that the County is getting the best value for our traded equipment. Fleet will negotiate on the behalf of the County if we feel that the trade value is not sufficient. By tracking and comparing market values for our units, this helps in making the decision on whether to trade or auction the unit. This also keeps fleet stay in tune with current market values.

FACTORS CONTRIBUTING TO CURRENT PERFORMANCE:

Fleet is in need of more funding in our capital projects area such as Highways, who is one of our largest users and has aging equipment that is costly and in need of replacement. Replacing units in a timely fashion helps us generate more revenue or trade value for the used vehicles and equipment. Replacement of units keeps our fleet running more efficently and generate stronger returns or trade value on surplus.
