Performance Measure 2: Average number of days to respond to new Zoning Enforcement cases ABOUT THIS MEASURE: This measure tracks the average number of days to respond, or to inspect a property associated with new Zoning Enforcement cases.
WHAT IS BEING DONE AND WHY IT IS IMPORTANT TO TRACK:
Properties are inspected, records are researched, and correspondence is sent to property owners to determine what, if any, zoning code violations exist. It's important to track this to maintain a high level of responsiveness/customer service.
FACTORS CONTRIBUTING TO CURRENT PERFORMANCE: Current case load; available staff; complexity of alleged code violation.
Performance Measure 3: Number of new Board of Appeals applications received ABOUT THIS MEASURE: This measure tracks the number of applications received by the Board of Appeals.
WHAT IS BEING DONE AND WHY IT IS IMPORTANT TO TRACK:
Board of Appeals applications are required for properties that require special exceptions, variances, piecemeal rezonings, expansions or intensifications of nonconforming uses or appeals to written determinations. This information is tracked alongside the number of pre application meetings to ensure owners do not apply unnecessarily to the Board of Appeals.

This measure tracks the number of Pre-Application meetings held prior to Board of Appeals applications.
WHAT IS BEING DONE AND WHY IT IS IMPORTANT TO TRACK:
Pre-application meetings are required by the Board of Appeals Rules of Procedure prior to accepting an application. In addition to explaining the process of the Board, staff takes the opportunity to assist citizens in finding creative solutions to their problems thereby avoiding unnecesssary applications to the Board and unnecessary cost to the citizen. Information is tracked alongside the number of actual applications to the Board of Appeals.

Performance Measure 5: Number of written requests for information (Development Review and Permits) ABOUT THIS MEASURE: This measure tracks the number of written public inquiries for information in the Permits and Development Review Section.
WHAT IS BEING DONE AND WHY IT IS IMPORTANT TO TRACK:
Tracking the number of written inquiries for information is important to ensure we have the required resources needed to meet the goal to respond within 10 days of receiving the inquiry. We track the number of inquiries alongside the average number of days to respond.
