Performance Measure 3: Expand Parks & Recreation programming and develop more usable open space ABOUT THIS MEASURE: We are expanding Parks & Rec programming to better suit the local youth. New play areas and park amenities have been developed to enhance communities.

WHAT IS BEING DONE AND WHY IT IS IMPORTANT TO TRACK:

A recreation specialist was added to develop youth programs and enhance existing programs as we try to gain

participation of local youth.

FACTORS CONTRIBUTING TO CURRENT PERFORMANCE: Participation is seeing an up-tick, but there's a need for more coaches.

Performance Measure 4: Provide initiatives that help provide safer streets and communities. ABOUT THIS MEASURE: Grant funding has been secured to provide security cameras in a high-crime, low income community. Work is underway. WHAT IS BEING DONE AND WHY IT IS IMPORTANT TO TRACK: Upgraded streetlighting and cameras are expected to make streets and community safer, less instances of criminal activity and better identification of individuals committing the activity.

FACTORS CONTRIBUTING TO CURRENT PERFORMANCE:

We have complete buy-in from the community supporting our efforts to turn the tide in their neighborhood. Longtime residents do not feel safe in their homes and are desperate for positive change. Cameras will be monitored by the Sheriff's Office at the Southern Precinct.
